Questions
Before you open a file
Everything people usually ask us. If yours isn't here, send us a message.
- What actually is Clinical Clues?
- A clinical mystery you solve from a patient's paperwork. You get a fictional file — nursing notes, obs chart, NEWS2, drug chart, bloods, imaging, a handover sheet — and you work out what's really going on, what you'd escalate, and what you'd do first. Nobody tells you the diagnosis.
- How long does one case take?
- Most people take 45 to 75 minutes on a case. You can leave a file open and come back to it — your pinned evidence, notes and reasoning are saved to your account.
- Do I need to be a nurse?
- It's written for student nurses, newly qualified nurses and the people who teach them. Anyone comfortable with basic obs and bloods can play, and everything you need to reason with is inside the file.
- Is it a subscription?
- No. You buy a single case file for £9.99, or a bundle, and it stays in your account. Nothing renews quietly in the background.
- Can I try one before buying?
- Yes — one complete case file is free, start to finish, including the sealed answer envelope. It's the same experience as the paid files, not a demo.
- Can I print a case and do it on paper?
- Every case comes with a printable Student Pack: cover sheet, the whole patient record in hospital formatting, blank working pages, evidence checklist, reasoning worksheets and a final diagnosis page. There's a Facilitator Pack too, with answers, the evidence map, red herrings explained, facilitation prompts and a marking guide.
- Can we play as a group?
- Yes. Solve it round a table with the printed pack, or run it live: a facilitator opens a session, shares a join code, and everyone's file reveals in sync while the facilitator controls the pace and the reveal.
- What if I'm playing solo — how do I check my answers?
- Every case ends in a sealed envelope you break yourself. Inside is the diagnosis, the reasoning you were expected to reach, the clues that mattered and the red herrings explained.
- Are the patients real?
- No. Every patient, ward, clinician and result is invented. It's superb reasoning practice and revision — it is never a substitute for real clinical care or local policy.
- Do you do university or trust licensing?
- Yes, cohort licensing is available. Get in touch with your cohort size and dates and we'll put a quote together.
- Can I get a refund?
- If a case file won't open or isn't what you expected, email us within 14 days of purchase and we'll sort it out. Full details are on the refunds page.
